Maneesha Bahuguna is a New Zealand born Indian artist currently studying and living in Australia. Travel, place, diaspora and language are amongst her influences, which derive from a transnational family-background. Fragments 2013, The Lost Glove In Istanbul 2013 and We’ll Always Have Rosina Street 2013 exhibiting in 11:11 showcase recent processes with photography, lithography and text.
These works create a dialogue between the act of departing a place; travelling and experiencing the journey and returning to a familiar or another location. Fragments symbolises new places visited as a home away from home. The Lost Glove In Istanbul symbolises experiences of the journey along the way. We’ll Always Have Rosina Street represents Maneesha’s first home away from her family’s home. This was shortly after returning from a Europe trip earlier this year. Through travel and movement each represent different ideas of home.
